Farewell to Substack

Johto Times moves to our new home. Please join us there!

After three years of Johto Times, we have now moved our newsletter to our own self hosted website. While the website launched in August 2025, we shared our final newsletter here in December that same year.

When we first launched Johto Times in 2023, we were fortunate to find a suitable home for it on Substack, a platform with some powerful tools which helped us grow. Back then, we didn’t know how long we would be working on this project, or how successful it would be. Substack was easy to use, and helped us connect with many Pokémon fans. We will always be thankful for the growth Substack has given us.

As time went on, we noticed that there were limitations on how we could make our newsletter look and feel, and we wanted the flexibility to make changes to Johto Times that Substack wasn’t able to offer. Thanks to the move, we have been able to create a website which fits us far better, and with additional content, including a community forum.

Moving forward, there will be no further updates on our Substack account, but we will keep the content we have already published here for as long as Substack allows us to do so.

No further emails will be sent from our Substack account, as we have already transferred all subscribers to our self hosted mailing list. For anyone who wishes to subscribe to our newsletter, you should do so by visiting our website.
